MISSION STATEMENT

To advance and promote the game of cricket for the residents of Seamer & Irton and surrounding areas offering a safe and enjoyable place to participate in cricket. Seamer & Irton cricket club not only exists to offer talented cricketers the opportunity to improve their skills and play top quality cricket, but also to provide all aspiring cricketers, whatever their background, the chance to fulfil their true potential. With the goal of providing the very best facilities, personnel and resources for players, support staff and members as is affordable. In addition encourage all members to increase pride, mutual respect and positivity in all things associated with the club and its future direction.

 

Aims

 

 

Harness and develop all young cricketers so they have the opportunity to contribute to the game of cricket at all levels and play a central role in club cricket life

 

1. Look into starting a second U11's side for the 2017 Season to play in the U11s league

2. Look into a further 2 members attending a level 2 coaching course to be qualified by the start of the 2018/19 cricket season.

3. Contact all current junior cricket players parents to try and recruit volunteers to assist with the running of the U11's side

4. Encourage young cricketers to enrol on coaching and umpiring courses.

5. Nominate players to attend County age group trials relevant to their ability and potential.

6. Promote an atmosphere of involvement and belonging to Seamer & Irton

Cricket Club.

 

 

Develop and strengthen a structure and pathway for women and girls to actively participate in and follow cricket

 

1. Develop the opportunity of girls training and coaching within local schools as part of the U11's side for the 2017/18 season. (Enlist the help of Matthew Hurren in developing this link)

2. The club will continue to encourage all girls involved in the

Schools programme as well as club activities to have access to further development, the club will also link in to the local CDG development centre for girls.

3. Explore the possibility of a female coach joining the club. (Enlist the help of Richard Wilkinson in developing this link)

 

 

Develop and strengthen the whole club environment, promoting cricketing opportunities for disabled people

 

1. Ensure full accessibility to the sports pavilion and changing rooms in partnership with Seamer Sports Association.

2. Recognise the requirement of both children and adults with special needs to participate.

3. The club will help provide and sustain opportunities for all to achieve the highest level that their abilities and ambitions allow, linking in to the YCB Disability Forum Action Plan.

 

 

Develop and promote cricket for black and ethnic minorities

 

1. Seamer & Irton Cricket Club have an open policy regardless of age, gender, creed or ability to anyone wish to come along and join our club.

 

 

Ensure that our cricket club is an integral part of the local community, contributing an invaluable service to all sections of the local community, developing club members, supporters and volunteers

 

1. Coaching sessions to be organised weekly for the U13's and U11s sides for the 2017/18 season.

2. Promote cricket within the community by holding a presidents day which will be advertised and promoted encouraging everyone within the community and surrounding areas to come along and participate in cricket at whatever level they choose.

3. Develop Links with all local schools as part of the clubs development plan.

 

 

Develop and strengthen senior playing teams, providing positive role models to all club members, leading achievement and success

 

 

1. Improve the playing strength of the senior team by maintain their status as a Premier Division side of Readers Scarborough Beckett Cricket League.

2. Encourage integration between 1st and 2nd XI Saturday senior teams.

3. Integrate young cricketers into the 2nd XI Evening League team to promote continuity of the club.

4. Encourage cricketers at U13 level to aspire to play 2nd XI cricket once they are too old enough to play senior cricket and progress through the ranks as their ability dictates.

5. Encourage senior members of the 1st XI to attend coaching and offer one to one sessions in batting, bowling, wicket keeping and fielding during the weekly coaching sessions

Dave/Clare Graham have spoken to Jonathan Wanless of Seamer & Irton primary school to promote the junior coaching sessions in the school newsletters.

Our one new player for the season has been recruited and all of last years players have been retained

Over the closed season regular contact is kept (a whats app group has been set up) with all members and at the planned end of season presidents match a concerted effort by the committee to advertise this event and invite along existing and prospective new members to attend and get involved with Seamer & Irton cricket club

The cricket committee will be working together to maintain contact with all players and look to recruit an overseas player for the new season

SCHOOL ACTIVITY DETAILS

 

How will we get there?

Liaise with Matt Hurren to establish contact with the school and assess the schools appetite for coaching for the pupils both during and after school. The current level one coaches within the club will need to attend and pass a level two coaching course.

Recruit one/two level 1 or level 2 coaches to assist with coaching sessions and the establishing of an 11s side.

When will we get there?

Look to have the relevant coaching course completed by March 2017 ready to start assisting in delivering coaching in school by April 2017

The committee will liaise with Matt Hurren to formulate a plan

What will it cost (including in kind costs)?

3 level 1 and/or level 2 coaching course's ?600 approximately coaching equipment ?480

Who are you approaching to fund such costs?

Liaise with Richard Wilkinson to establish available funding sources Approach the Scarborough Development group

 

 

FIVE YEAR FUTURE OBJECTIVES

 

In addition to the above our five year objectives are:

 

·         Raise funds to install a 2 lane practice net for summer coaching sessions of both junior and senior members for the 2018/19 season

·         Have the existing level 1 coach who have attended and passed an ECB

Assistant coaching course go on and attend a level 2 coaching course.

·         Recruit 2 more level one coaches to assist with junior coaching sessions and the running of the additional teams (If there is sufficient interest in forming additional junior sides) to ensure continuity from junior through to senior cricket.

·          Raise funds to knock the existing changing rooms into one and refurbish toilets and shower facilities.

·         Raise funds to replace the existing scoreboard facilities with an electronic facility for the 2018/19 season.

·         Raise funds to replace the wicket roller as the existing roller is beginning to fail and funds will need to be in place as and when it needs replacing
