Scarborough v Seamer & Irton Cricket Club Seamer & Irton CC 2nd XI (Evening) on Thu 12 May 2016 at 6.15pm
Seamer & Irton Cricket Club Lost by 7 wkts

Match report In a pulsating match on the hallowed turf of North Marine Road, Seamer lost to a young Scarborough side off the last ball of the match in the gathering gloom.
Seamer batted first and were reduced to 9 for 3 after 2 overs and 1 ball. Opener Connor who had been watching this disaster at the other end was joined at the crease by acting captain for the night Matty Morris, and this pair set about repairing the damage with some lusty blows into the popular bank. The score moved quickly to 62 in less than 4 overs before Connor holed out in the deep for a much needed 38 runs. Rory joined Matty and started solidly stroking singles all round the ground, but Matty was bowled by Milburn for 23 with the score on 77. Rory and Josh Lowe kept the score moving until the latter was caught with the score on 99 in the 10th over. Rory upped the tempo and with a succession of boundaries moved the score on to 127 after the allotted 13 overs, he remaining unbeaten on 35.
Scarborough's openers Mainprize and Foster started brightly but were never quite up with the required run rate. They reached 50 in the 7th over, then set about the Seamer bowling with 24 runs coming off the next 2 overs before Foster drove a shot into Josh Lowe's hands at mid wicket for 42 off Beaver. Next over and Mainprize tripped outside his crease and was stumped by Rory off one of Matty's left arm teasers. Scarborough needed another 54 runs off the last 4 overs, and Lewis Brearley launched a savage assult on the bowling with 3 mighty sixes into the Trafalgar Square enclosure and the popular bank. He was well backed up by Ben Rowe who was stroking to all parts of the outfield. It all came down to the last over bowled by Connor and 11 runs were needed. Brearley hit the first ball for 6 over the rope nearest the West Stand, but was cleaned up by Connor next ball for a quick 32 runs in just 14 minutes. Rowe and Milburn stroked a few singles and 2 runs were needed off the last ball. Rowe confidently despatched the ball through extra cover and Seamer had lost by 7 wickets, Rowe remaining unbeaten on 20.
So a disappointing start to Seamer's evening campaign in the higher division. Connor and the middle order batsmen did well, and setting Scarborough practically 10 an over should have been better defended despite the quality of some of their batsmen. It all boiled down to conceding those 54 runs in the final 4 overs. Let's hope for a better performance next week.
