Seamer & Irton Cricket Club Seamer & Irton CC 2nd XI v Scalby 2nd XI on Sat 15 Jun 2019 at 13.30
Match was Abandoned

Match report Seamer won the toss and put Scalby in to bat on a damp wicket with overcast conditions. Their opening pair Lee Kerr and Dave Holborn got off to a good start with 10 coming from the returning DJ's 1st over and 6 from Beaver's 1st. After the next 2 overs were maidens, the score climbed steadily to 30 after 8 overs and 53 after 13. By that time, Beaver had been taken off after 4 overs and replaced by Connor. And it was Connor who struck the 1st blow in the 14th over when Holborn's mistimed drive soared up in the air above him and Connor running forward held on to the catch off his own bowling. Holborn made 20 and it was 57 for 1. 14 year old Gregor Fraser joined Kerr and they kept the scoreboard moving to 77 after 20 overs. Archie replaced Connor at the far end conceding 7 runs then being replaced by his dad who bowled 3 tidy overs for 4 runs. DJ had bowled his 12 overs straight through for 34 runs and the score was 85 after 24 overs. Archie then replaced DJ at the pavilion end, and Kerr stroked a single to bring him his 50 in the 29th over. 2 balls later, Kerr was dismissed after holing out to Connor at cover off Archie's bowling, and the score was 103 for 2. Dan Gregory joined Fraser and another partnership developed. Runs were scored with ease as the score moved quickly to reach 150 in the 35th over. Beaver had been brought back, and in his 2nd over, the 36th, he tempted Frazer into an uppish leg side drive which was easily caught by Hax at mid wicket. Frazer had scored 37 and the total was 154 for 3. Beaver struck again in his next over, the 38th when he cleaned up new batsman Ryan Labaschagne with the score on 159. Another 2 overs later and Gregory suffered the same fate when Beaver bowled him for 38. The score had moved quickly to 172 for 5 thanks to Tim Barton hitting boundaries off Beaver and Archie. Archie bowled the 43rd over, his 11th, and claimed a 2nd wicket when he trapped Henry Marcroft lbw with 188 on the board. In the last over off the 5th ball, Adrian Hollingsworth was out of his crease when stand in keeper Sheads was stood back to Archie and threw the ball forward on to the stumps for an unusual stumping. That was 197 for 7 and finished the same after the last dot ball. Barton remained unbeaten on 25. Beaver and Archie both finished with 3 wickets apiece.
Seamer started the reply with dark clouds threatening from the north. Archie and Dave got off to a sound start with 15 on the board after 5 overs, and 26 after 8 overs. The 9th over by captain Tony Geall was a wicket maiden when he dislodged captain Dave's stumps for 15 and we were 27 for 1. Connor joined Archie and the pair kept the scoreboard ticking over. Connor hit a boundary off Geall in the 13th over before a heavy shower forced the players off the field. The rain continued for the next hour, forcing the match to be abandoned.
